GB Police Fixtures for 2017

GB Police Update by Gareth Pratt, Head Coach

We played in 1st round of Challenge Cup against the London based Kiwi dominated team Wests Warriors and lost but some very positive things came from the game and this being my 1st game with the Police RL team it gave me a better understanding of what standard they are playing at.

I have had a couple of training sessions with the players since the Challenge Cup game and a lot of developments behind the scenes as we prepare for a tour to Canada (Vancouver) in September. The New Zealand Police are also travelling over to Canada to play us and the Canadian team to form a tri-nation competition.

Our training venue is at Mayfield ARLFC in Rochdale. It’s a central location for Yorkshire / Lancashire players and easy to get off motorway for those players travelling from all around the country.

I have been working to increase the participation of the police officer players and chasing up as many quality players as possible from the different regions around the country. I have had players come into the squad from North Wales, London, Lancashire and Yorkshire regions recently.

The support from the committee is great and they are very keen to help me in any way possible. Our main sponsor is Kings Security along with others who are contributing to the cost of the tour but we are also on look out for other sponsorships for the players and staff.

We have got a game on Sunday 7th May at Batley Stadium which kicks off at 12pm and is curtain raiser to Batley v Hull KR game.

We are trying to attract plenty of support for this game and promote plenty of interest for the GB Police team.

For any potential players currently in the police force who are interested in joining us and also for any potential sponsors who would like to help us provide the best possible experience for the players during this year’s fixtures and for the tour to Canada in September please call me on 07885 099956.
